A nice walk this evening in El Parque Recorral produced a stunning male Pied Flycatcher, Sand Martin and the usual Night Heron.

I did a 30 min walk along the Rio Segura this morning. It produced 3/4 Nightingales singing, a Cuckoo, 7 Glossy Ibis, 3 Booted Eagles, Iberian Green Woodpecker and several Cetti’s Warblers.
A trip to the Visitor Centre at El Hondo was cut short because, like a fool, I forgot my mozzie spray. I did however manage to see the season’s first Woodchat Shrikes near the car park. Also saw (and heard) … Continued
At the visitors centre today 20+ Collared Pratincoles, 7 or 8 Great Reed Warblers, Temminck’s Stint, Common Sandpiper, good numbers of Snipe plus the usual suspects.
Today at El Pinet, my first Common Terns, 6+ and a single Collared Pratincole. Over El Hondo, hundreds of Common Swifts, a few Pallid Swifts with them, and I saw at least 1 Sand Martin too.
