El Clot

It was such a lovely day we decided to have an afternoon walk around El Clot. We saw many of the species we saw yesterday during the CBBC field trip but also managed to add a few we hadn’t seen, namely – Green Woodpecker, Crested Lark, Hoopoe and a reasonable view of a Dartford Warbler, despite being partly hidden in a tree. As we approached the hide I was saying to John how I would really like to see the Water Rail we had heard yesterday, and amazingly, as I sat down I spotted it swimming across the short distance between the two lots of reeds at the far side of the pool. I was so excited, I nearly fell off my seat! It was only a 10 second view but it was good enough for me.
