El Clot

We had a quick walk around the Clot today to see what was about. A Greenfinch was our first bird, closely followed by numerous House Martins, Crag Martins and Swallows. A Marsh Harrier was hunting over the marshes, causing flocks of Teal and 4 Snipe to take flight. From the mirador we could see about 20 Shoveler, numerous Pochards and 2 White headed Ducks (male and female). When we reached the main hide we found Bryan and Trish there so compared notes and watched a Green Sandpiper feeding at the edge of the pool. We all walked back to the scrape where I spotted my first Red rumped Swallow of the year amongst all of the other hirundines which were flying around. Not too many birds today but a nice walk and a chat before we headed home for lunch.
