El Clot

Today we had a wander round the Clot, visiting the ‘new’ hide, the main hide and the marsh hide as well as the Mirador. At the main hide the wardens had been cutting down some of the reeds so most of the birds had moved away. We did, however, see 2 Snipe in front of the ‘new’ hide along with most of the Teal which are usually in the main pool. We heard Cetti’s Warbler singing and saw and heard Chiffchaffs which were also doing their familiar ‘chiff chaff’ song. A Green Woodpecker was also heard but not seen. At the marsh hide a Green Sandpiper was flushed as we arrived and a Marsh Harrier was hunting and unsettling the ducks which were flying around the area. A good spot for today was our first House Martin of the year.
