El Clot – Greta Owen

Spent two to three hours at El Clot. Had it to ourselves. First in the scrape, not a lot to see apart from White Wagtail, one lone male White-headed Duck and an Iberian Grey Shrike. On to the main hide, lots of Reed Warbler calling, Night Heron flew out of the reeds and then back in, plus 9 Marbled Duck. Next on to the ‘dry hide’, where we saw a Little Bittern, 3 Little Egret, and 2 Purple Heron flew over. Two pairs of Great Crested Grebe with one pair doing the mating dance, 1 pair of White-headed Duck and a Pied Flycatcher, ‘couldn’t stop photographing it’ as it came very close. Pochard and Red Crested Pochard, Female Sardinian Warbler. The water was even closer to the hide than normal and several Carp were jumping about two metres from the hide.
