El Hondo area and San Felipe

28Jan-1A local birding trip with friends proved a little disappointing due to the windy conditions which kept the birds down. Our top bird, however, was a male Hen Harrier we found quartering a field in the countryside near to Catral. Visits to the new hide on the Vistabella road and to San Felipe found everything to be pretty quiet, although while driving around the area we did manage to get a photo of a Kestrel and a Green Sandpiper, both birds which usually disappear as soon as you get close to them.
