El Hondo area – Malcolm Palmer

Went to Vistabella road, first hide and after hearing my first Great Reed Warbler of the year, flushed a Spotted Crake. Thousands of hirundines passing, including big numbers of Sand Martin, accompanied by Common and Pallid Swift in small numbers. A party of around eight Whiskered Terns included one virtually all-white juvenile with just a dark line through the eye. From PFT very little, but a few Water Pipits included a very odd-looking bird – too uniform on crown to be anything else I reckon, but seemed to have a buffish tinge below – just a bit of an oddity, I thought.
