El Hondo and Spring Migrants – by Barry Chambers

Today at El Hondo, which is now open from 8.30 – 11.30 each week, I saw a good number of Raptors. A Greater Spotted Eagle flew below me very close at the first tower hide as soon as I arrived, later I saw 2 more in the distance from the second tower hide. I also had male and female Marsh Harriers, a female Merlin, a Peregrine, several Booted Eagles, Osprey and a Kestrel, many Moustached Warblers were singing and I managed good views of a couple. There were several Great White Egrets and I heard Little Bittern.
SPRING MIGRANTS – 2 House Martins and 2 Swallows.
