El Hondo fields – Greta and Paul

Not beach weather and though it was raining we thought we would go on our usual route, not necessarily thinking that we would see a lot, but as it turned out not a bad couple of hours. Yellow Wagtail, Hoopoe, Greenfinch, Grey Wagtail, Southern Grey Shrike, Sardinian Warbler, Stonechat, Jackdaw, 12+ Grey Heron, Marsh Harrier, Little Egret, and it seemed that nearly every field had Cattle Egret on them. Glossy Ibis, Crested Lark, 100+ Lapwing landed in a field to the right of the PFT and a Kestrel and 6 Green Sandpiper down the “alley”, and a Kingfisher. After PFT we decided to have a look along the lane towards San Felipe Neri, in a flooded field on the right we saw several Common Snipe, Greater Flamingo, other types of waders and Black winged Stilts, Well worth going out.
