El Hondo fields – Greta Owen

We left GA in lovely sunshine but by the time we neared Santa Pola it was shrouded in a thick mist. We thought we would go and have a look at the hide at Vistabella now that they have repaired the bridge but there were too many cars there already, so we decided to have a look at PFT. Most of the fields along the straight were flooded, a large flock of Lapwing on the first field, a few Snipe and Gulls on the second and lots of Glossy Ibis, Cattle Egret and other small waders on the others. A Buzzard, several Booted Eagle and Marsh Harrier on the thermals when the sun appeared again.
