Today we had a short walk round El Pinet. There were not too many birds around but the weather was warm and sunny as we struggled along the sandy path. On the lagoons we saw, amongst other things, Greater Flamingo, Little Egret, Black winged Stilt and Shelduck as well as some unidentified waders which were flying around a lot.

Later we went to Santa Pola to watch the fishing boats come in. By this time the wind had got up and it was pretty chilly at the end of the pier and it proved difficult to hold the bins. steady. It was not a very productive trip as we saw just Yellow legged Gull, Black headed Gull, Cormorant and a couple of Turnstone landed on the pier briefly before flying off again.

Species list – Little Egret, Grey Heron, Greater Flamingo, Shelduck, Black winged Stilt, Avocet, Turnstone, Redshank, Black tailed Godwit, Slender billed Gull, Yellow legged Gull, Sandwich Tern, House Sparrow, Serin.
