July Sightings from Barry and Malcolm

14th July – Barry – Gareth and myself did a drive along the Palm Farm Road. At the very beginning just off from the roundabout on the right, in the same field as last Autumn, we saw 4 Little Bustards a couple of distant photos attached.

14th July – Malcolm – no sign of them when I went down a bit later, but a Stock Dove showed up with a small group of Woodpigeons – a nice, well marked one too. At the Reserve Centre, I had 5 Red-knobbed Coot, 1 feeding young, a Water Rail and a Little Bittern. And water levels bode well for more waders.
17th July – Malcolm  – on THE field off the PFT, today’s surprise was a Curlew and 2 Whimbrel. I then somehow staggered to the hide to augment my miserable year-list, and was rewarded by lots of Little Bitterns, Night Herons, White-headed Duck galore, and a collared ‘knobber.‘ And I made it without falling in!
