La Finca golf course, Algorfa

12march-02Today we went to Iceland (the shop not the country!) We decided to take a detour on the way to have a look at La Finca golf course near Algorfa. The course includes a few lakes of varying sizes and these held small groups of Shoveler, Pochard, Mallard, Moorhen and Coot. We found 3 Serins on a fence and a Cetti’s Warbler was calling from the reedbeds. A Hoopoe landed on a nearby wall, and a Green Woodpecker flew past and onto the course, both species which like the short cut grass of a golf course. Not a proper bird trip but it certainly improved an otherwise mundane shopping trip.
