Local sightings

We have now returned to Spain and the first bird we encountered was a Sardinian Warbler moving around in a tree while we were having a meal out on our first night back. A sure sign we are back in Spain. We have not done any birding since we got back, but we did come back from Elche through the El Hondo countryside one day and were surprised, but pleased to see 4 Bee eaters sitting on a wire. I thought they would have all set off for Africa by now. Driving back across the salinas it was good to see regular species, such as, Greater Flamingo, Great White Egret, Little Egret, Black winged Stilt and Avocet without even leaving the car.
