Mary’s Blog – El Clot

A short visit to the Clot in the late afternoon proved interesting as we found a new hide with the fencing just being finished off. It is on the main path from the side gate, if you carry straight on rather than go left to the dry hide or right to the main pool. The birds were a little distant, possibly due to the noise of the chain saw, but we did count eight White Headed Duck and eleven Pochard, along with a few Coot and Shoveler. A Cetti’s Warbler was calling from the right of the hide.

We also noticed a pen in the main pool and wondered if they are planning to introduce a new species.
