Mary’s Blog – San Felipe and El Hondo fields

We arranged a trip out with Paul and Greta today, across the countryside to San Felipe. Highlights for me were; Blue Rock Thrush and Green Woodpecker by the monastery, Booted Eagle posing nicely in a tree where GSA meets Vistabella road, many waders at Santa Agueda, Marbled Duck and a single Glossy Ibis at San Felipe. (Plus lots of people, it being a fiesta/holiday here).

Species list – Little Grebe, Cormorant, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Grey Heron, Greater Flamingo, Glossy Ibis, Mallard, Teal, Marbled Duck, Marsh Harrier, Buzzard, Booted Eagle, Kestrel, Coot, Purple Swamphen, Moorhen, Avocet, Black winged Stilt, Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, Green Sandpiper, Redshank, Lapwing, Woodpigeon, Collared Dove, Hoopoe, Green Woodpecker, Crested Lark, Meadow Pipit, White Wagtail, Black Redstart, Stonechat, Blue Rock Thrush, Blackbird, Cetti’s Warbler (HO), Chiffchaff, Sardinian Warbler, Southern Grey Shrike, Spotless Starling, Crow.
