Salinas, El Hondo fields and El Pinet

Today we ventured out to find some birds. We headed across the Salinas then to El Pinet followed by a drive around the local countryside.

Highlights for us were Little Tern on the Salinas, Curlew Sandpiper and Kentish Plover at El Pinet, Bee eaters and a Great Spotted Cuckoo at the Bee eater site, a Purple Heron and a Red rumped Swallow along the Palm Farm Track and two Glossy Ibis flying by the Vistabella Road.

Species list:- Great White Egret, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Purple Heron, Grey Heron, Greater Flamingo, Glossy Ibis, Shelduck, Pochard, Kestrel, Black winged Stilt, Avocet, Kentish Plover, Curlew Sandpiper, Slender billed Gull, Yellow legged Gull, Common Tern, Little Tern, Woodpigeon, Collared Dove, Great Spotted Cuckoo, Pallid Swift, Bee Eater, Hoopoe, Green Woodpecker, Crested Lark, Swallow, Red rumped Swallow, Sardinian Warbler, Zitting Cisticola, Southern Grey Shrike, Spotless Starling, Jackdaw, House Sparrow.
