I have just returned from an overnight cycling visit to the Sierra de Espuna, staying at The Mariposa Hotel. The Sierra was dressed in it’s spring best, with wonderful sweeps of wild flowers. Most notable birds were my first Cuckoo of the year, heard from the hotel and a Scops owl calling continuously through the night. The owl has been there on my previous 6 visits in recent years, so a certain tick for any overnight guests!
The Mariposa is a delightful little informal hotel. B&B is €27pp in shared rooms, lunch on a lovely terrace is €12, dinner is €12. Highly recommended – http://www.hotellamariposa.com/
