Sightings – Los Montesinos, El Hondo – Edward Humphreys

Late afternoon yesterday a male Hen Harrier followed a couple of minutes later by a female on the inland side of Torrevieja salinas heading towards Los Montesinos.

This morning a Little Owl sat on a dead tree stump next the road to Montesinos from ‘Florantilles’. At El Hondo today a Spoonbill, three Squacco Heron, 30 Collared Pratincoles, a Wood Sandpiper, two Kentish Plover, two Little Ringed Plover, lots of Avocet and Black headed Gulls. Three Whiskered Terns flew through. From the hide on vistabella road 50 Common Swift, one Marsh Harrier hunting close to the hide giving excellent views, lots of Black necked Grebe, White headed Duck and Flamingo, two pairs of Great Crested Grebe, 12 Common Pochard.
