Torrevieja and El Hondo area – Ted Humphreys

Sunday 30th October  During a social walk between the Nautilus Bar and south Torrevieja beach this morning there was a Whimbrel on the rocks at the beach heading south, a Kingfisher flew north along the same rocks, a Sparrowhawk was hunting over the beach gardens, and a pair of Stonechat was also seen.

Monday 31st October – one Common Crane along the palm farm track today, numerous Marsh Harriers, 2 Booted Eagles, 2 Common Snipe and 5 Green Sandpipers.  A Lesser Spotted Eagle flew from El Hondo across Vistabella Road, a large group of Meadow Pipits were flying about along the same road, and a Kingfisher was on the track next to El Hondo.

Wednesday 2nd November – I was treated to an arial display by a male and female Hen Harrier today whilst sat in a hide on the Vistabella Road, the male had caught what appears to be a bird and the female was chasing him about for a couple of minutes giving great action shots.
