Vistabella Hide – Darren Wilson

posted in: Birders Reports | 0

Alas, no Cranes today but did see plenty of birds of prey from the first hide along the Vistabella Road. This adult Spotted Eagle was mobbed by a very persistent Booted Eagle which constantly harassed it, so much so that it gave up and drifted off east. Also, saw another Spotted, quite a distant individual but definitely a little paler. A Common Buzzard, Kestrel, more Booted Eagles and hordes of Marsh Harrier were seen. As I was walking back from the hide, I had a nice surprise with a Water Vole furiously swimming away from me. Much better than the usual rats!
