Cattle Egrets by David and Margaret Gartside©
Photo from Campo de Rojales this afternoon on our return drive from lunch at Casa Paco (a past CBBC lunch venue). 47 Little Egrets following the harrow and at least an equal number of wagtails. A common sight, we know, but it always makes us stop the car and watch in delight. To add to our pleasure the driver gave us a big smile and several friendly waves. Quite made our day!  A single Booted Eagle above, as is very often the case here. Also a nice Kestrel perching on nearby cross-field wires, scanning the earth below and making repeat flights to pick up small invertebrates – saves hovering about! PS – Casa Paco lunch was as good as always.
