El Clot – Greta and Paul

posted in: Birders Reports | 0

A nice few hours in El Clot this morning:- pairs of Squacco Heron were close to the edge, along with Grey Heron, Purple Heron and Black Winged Stilt. The family of Little Bittern are still very active. A Glossy Ibis came near to the water’s edge, looking colourful in the sunlight. Several Terns flying around as were Bee Eaters, Swallows, Martins, Swifts and Goldfinch. A Little Egret was seen in the distant background. Turtle Dove, White Wagtail, and Green Sandpiper came in for a quick drink. A Water Rail walked along the edge but too fast for any photo. A Green Woodpecker made a fly past. Also there were the usual water fowl; Coot, Moorhen, Pochard, Mallard, Little Grebe. No White Headed Duck today though.
