El Clot – Mark Etheridge

posted in: Birders Reports | 0

28th September – A nice visit from four Night Herons at the main pool in the Clot this afternoon.

1st October – A morning in the Clot with Bryan, John and Michelle – most birds at a distance but an interesting collection! Overflying Osprey (first one in the Clot for both Bryan and myself), juvenile Purple Heron, lots of White Headed Duck, Pochard, Shoveler, Gadwall and Black-necked Grebe. Also three Night Heron, Common Snipe, Kingfisher, Kestrel, Marsh Harrier, Reed Warbler, the usual Flamingos and Egrets plus several overflying Glossy Ibis. The Scrape and Charco pool are almost devoid of birds due to the ongoing reed removal. A possible Ferruginous Duck or hybrid at the big lagoon.
