El Clot, San Felipe – Daniel Newton

posted in: Birders Reports | 0

Tuesday morning was spent on Tabarca, where my best birds were a couple of Shag. Then onto El Clot in the afternoon. The highlights there were a point blank Hoopoe, a Hobby buzzing the central lagoon, as well as a couple of Pintail and both Spotted and Pied Flycatcher.

Today (Wednesday) was spent around El Hondo. The hides along Vistabella Road in the morning and San Felipe late afternoon. Highlights included no fewer than eight Bluethroats across both sites. No end of waders to be found. Spotted Redshanks and Ruff were present in good numbers, as well as a handful of Wood Sandpipers and a Green Sandpiper. Even better, I found a Bar-tailed Godwit from the second hide on the Vistabella Road along with 2 Curlews and 3 Black-tailed Godwits. Also a Snipe at San Felipe!
