El Hondo area, Guardarmar – Geoff Culliford

posted in: Birders Reports | 0

On Tuesday I visited El Hondo again. Not so many birds about this time with maintenance work going on. I counted 20 Snipe by the visitor centre and more by the hides with Bluethroats running around again. Six Booted Eagles by the cattle sheds. Marsh Harriers everywhere. A pair of Blue Rock Thrush at the monastery and a pair of Little Owls farther along. I then walked down the Segura at Guardamar and to my delight found a pair of Penduline Tits my second ever sighting. The first time was at Exmouth years ago.
