El Hondo fields – Greta Owen

I don’t know what was on in the Clot today, but we couldn’t park anywhere by the side gate, so decided to do our usual route. A “joy of Magpie” and a covey of 12 Red Legged Partridge were seen at the pallet road. Just a lone Roller, a Little Owl and an Iberian Grey Shrike were seen along the monastery road. Along the track that runs parallel to the PFT, a Turtle Dove was on the canal wall. Several Kestrel and Jackdaws were seen in flight. Outside the goat farm, feeding at the side of the track was a beautiful cock Pheasant. A bit further along there were Hoopoe and four Wheatear feeding at the edge of the road. Two Green Sandpiper were down the alley and a Grey Heron stood in the middle of the PFT until an oncoming vehicle disturbed it. Lots of Bee-eaters were on the wires on the way to San Felipe but not a lot else.
