El Hondo fields – Greta Owen

On our day out today after just turning onto pallet road when we were met with a “shepherd” and his 800 goats coming towards us. He told us that the milk was sent to a factory in Elche and made into cheese. The Little Owl could still be seen on the old building, and opposite we saw Greenfinch, White Wagtail, Black Redstart, Hoopoe, Starling and WoodPigeon. On round passed the Donkey sanctuary to the Monastery Road where we saw Southern Grey Shrike, Marsh Harrier, Kestrel, Cormorant, Booted Eagle, and the highlight was when we saw a Whitethroat. Further on we saw a Buzzard. We also met Ian and Julie over here on holiday from England who were also enjoying a bit of birding.
