El Hondo fields – Greta Owen

A couple of Roller on wires around the monastery area, a Cuckoo and a lot of Bee-eaters down the bottom of monastery road on the tobacco trees. We had just started along the parallel track when we saw a Turtle Dove perched on the canal wall but it soon flew away. Jackdaw, Glossy Ibis, Crested Lark, and Hoopoe in the sheep field. Two Kestrel put in an appearance too. A pair of Woodchat Shrike were sat on a gate at PFT and farther along we were surprised to see a field of lovely Sunflowers in full bloom, hadn’t noticed them before. We checked out Lo Chicharro, not much water and the only bird there was a Crested lark.
