El Hondo fields – Paul and Greta

14th April – Bee eater and Great Spotted Cuckoo around the old Monastery.

18th April – The only bird we saw at Pallet Road was a Little Owl. It landed on a shrub not far from the roadside. At PFT the first we saw two Booted Eagles in the same tree. There were lots of Swifts, House Martin and Common Tern flying around. Several flocks of Glossy Ibis were circling too. A Serin sat on a seed head singing away. A horseman rode past along PFT. A few Crested Lark displayed at Lo Cuchara, Four Muscovy Duck took refuge on one of the lakes at the end of Monastery road. A Pied Flycatcher posed nicely in El Clot as did a Male Blackbird. It could have been a brighter day weather wise but quite fruitful.

21st April – Nice to see that the Rollers are back. Although it wasn’t a nice day weather wise the sky was full of Swallows, Martins and Swifts. Didn’t see any Raptors at all today. Heard lots of Reed Warbler. Saw Magpie, Southern Grey Shrike, Little Owl, Cattle Egret, Grey Heron, Blackbird, and Hoopoe. 100 plus Glossy Ibis flew over and two of what I think could have been young Cuckoo. Lots of fields still flooded from the heavy rain storm.
