El Pinet, Monastery – Gleb Berloff

I began at El Pinet with the closest breeding-plumage Collared Pratincole views I have ever had, with some amazing Black-winged Stilt views as well.

Then I headed over to the Old Monastery area. Countless Iberian Grey Shrikes, an extremely close Woodchat Shrike, four Booted Eagles and a Stone Curlew lurking off the road at close range. Two Great Spotted Cuckoos chasing each other as well and some very loud Iberian green frogs! Lack of bottled water prevented me from cycling further for the Lesser Flamingo I had heard about.
