Guadalentin and other areas – Kathy Dowsett

Our garden was graced by a Pied Flycatcher which spent two days flitting about in the lemon tree. We have had two glorious days of bird watching starting locally at Garruchal where we had our first Cuckoos of the year and a Garden Warbler among the more common birds. Today we ventured further afield to Guadalentín and a young Golden Eagle was one of the first birds we saw. The Rollers and Bee-eaters were there as expected but we had some unusual highlights including a flock of Lesser Kestrels hawking for insects along with the Swifts. A pair of Chough, several Tree Sparrows and a flock of Glossy Ibis flying overhead completed an impressive list.
