La Marina/El Pinet – Steve Saunders

posted in: Birders Reports | 0

I spent a couple of hours yesterday visiting La Marina beach and El Pinet. In the wake of storm Gloria the sea was right onto the dunes, no room to walk at high tide. The boardwalk onto the beach had collapsed and I believe the restaurant at El Pinet had suffered damage. Never have I seen the sea so far up the beach.

In terms of birds, La Marina pines held a Crested Tit. El Pinet scrub had Stone Curlew and Dartford Warbler. Dunlin, Little Stint, Common Sandpiper, Ringed Plover, Black-tailed Godwit and 2 Curlew Sandpiper were around the lagoons.
