La Mata – Barry Chambers

I paid a brief visit to La Mata this morning. Firstly I spent 15 minutes in the pine tree fenced area near the cemetery and saw 9+ male Pied Flycatchers, 3 Spotted Flycatchers, 3 Mistle Thrushes and a Long-tailed Tit. A quick walk to the hide and back produced Avocets, Kentish Plover, and a good number of Common Terns on the island from the hide, on the walk back I observed a Montagu’s Harrier and 2 Common Redstarts.
