La Mata – Daniel Newton

Here are the highlights from a couple of hours at Laguna Rosa and La Mata this evening.

Iberian Magpie, Spotless Starling, Slender-billed Gull, Kentish Plover, Little Tern, Stone Curlew, Iberian Green Woodpecker, Monk Parakeet, Greater Flamingo. I’m pretty sure that I had singing Thekla’s Lark at La Mata. Are these regular there?

Malcolm responded with this – “Quite likely, I’d say. Generally favouring more stony, less cultivated land, Thekla’s song is more finch-like and delivered either from a perch or whilst circling high. If you’re good on song as I was before anno domini put paid to much of my hearing, easy enough.
