Day 1 – Monday was as per norm spent visiting a few local areas. But first a quick scan from my Mam’s balcony whilst supping morning coffee. Swallow, House Martin and Swift were good to see but the highlight was two Male Montagu’s Harriers drifting over the reedbeds of Laguna Salada de Torrevieja.

Once on the road, stops at Golf Campoamor, Lo Monte, San Pedro Salinas and Los Alcazares. Highlights were Red rumped Swallow, Common and Little Tern, Little Ringed and Kentish Plover, Common and Curlew Sandpiper, Sanderling, Slender billed Gull, Stone Curlew and around 20 Collared Pratincole on their nesting fields near Los Alcazares …. another week or so and they should be on eggs. A Crimson Speckled Flunkey (Moth) posed nicely for a photo. I also managed a snap shot of a Black eyed Blue butterfly (I think?) and Skipper sp. Bird trip list so far 45 species
