Wandered around the ex-Military area north of Los Urrutias this morning before the forecast heatwave arrives and was rewarded with a summer-plumaged Curlew Sandpiper, 4 Turnstone, 7 Sanderling, 2 Grey Plover, 2 Common Sandpiper, 4 Common Tern, a male Montagu’s Harrier and a female Northern Wheatear. The ramblas produced my first Nightingale of the year as well as a Glossy Ibis, 2 Great Reed Warbler and 4 Common Pochard.

I then had a walk at Los Nietos – Lo Poyo and saw 2 Stone Curlew, another Curlew Sandpiper amongst some Dunlin, 5 Ruff, 8 Avocet, 2 Wood Sandpiper, a Montagu’s Harrier, 5 Marsh Harrier, 2 Gull-billed Tern and 5 Bee-eater.
