Today we said goodbye to Anso and our little Swallow friends who used to sit on the wires outside our apartment singing loudly. Driving down the Hecho Valley we saw one Black Kite in a field and two Red Kites flying.
We called at San Juan de la Pena for our coffee stop and a wander. House Martins, Swallows and Swifts flew around and a Black Redstart and a White Wagtail were on the grass. From the Mirador we saw two Griffon Vultures flying, and Blackcap, Robin and Chaffinch were all singing in the woods. We were heading for a hotel in Zaragoza passing Riglos on the way. As we neared Huesca there were the usual Corn Buntings on the wires all along the road, and as we approached Zaragoza we saw the odd Black Kite and numerous White Storks on their nests on the pylons. A raptor flying near to the road was identified as a Booted Eagle.
