During our month in Gran Alacant we stayed near the Clot giving us plenty of opportunities to visit this great little site. There were numerous birds we saw on a regular basis, but on each visit we seemed to add at least one additional species. On our first visit on 15th January we were lucky enough to see a Water Rail, but sadly we did not see it again .

On 28th January it was a treat to see a male Pintail in the main pool, a bird which was still there on the 8th February.

The species list for our month in Spain is as follows:- Little Grebe, Little Egret, Cattle Egret, Mallard,  Shoveler, Pintail, Teal, Pochard, Red Crested Pochard, White Headed Duck, Marsh Harrier, Kestrel, Western Swamphen, Water Rail, Coot, Moorhen, Snipe, Collared Dove, Woodpigeon, Hoopoe, Green Woodpecker, Crag Martin, House Martin, Swallow, Meadow/Water Pipit, Grey Wagtail, White Wagtail,  Robin, Bluethroat, Black Redstart, Stonechat, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Chiffchaff,  Sardinian Warbler, Great Tit, Southern Grey Shrike,  Spotless Starling,  Common Starling,  Jackdaw,  House Sparrow,  Greenfinch, Goldfinch,Serin, Linnet.
