Mary’s Blog – El Hondo Fields

We took a last drive round this morning and found the Blue Rock Thrush had relocated to a derelict building along the road opposite the monastery. However, we met Paul and Greta later and they said they had seen the bird on the monastery earlier. Three Booted Eagles were flying in this area.

We drove along the tracks by the monastery but the Great Spotted Cuckoo from Friday was nowhere to be seen, or even heard. We saw Magpie, Iberian Grey Shrike, Stonechat and three Glossy Ibis flew over.

The PFT was quiet with only Little Egret, Stonechat, and two Magpies.

After driving around a bit we finished up on a track at the side of the salinas where a distant Great White Egret could be seen and a Kestrel was in the area.
