Monastery – Gleb Berloff

Today at the Old Monastery was the closest I have ever seen a Common Cuckoo. Considering I was on my bike when this happened and I usually know this bird as extremely shy and elusive, it was immensely surprising. Additionally, some close views were obtained of Hoopoe, various Shrikes, an extremely showy Iberian Green Woodpecker, and a Booted Eagle which sat perched with pigeons on the same wire, then was soaring low overhead. Although I did not see the Roller today (hate that name), I did hear it, which I at the moment thought was an Iberian green frog
