Monnegre – Geoff Culliford

Yesterday I headed up to Monnegre again. I started with a Little Owl followed by a Black-eared Wheatear and then a Black Wheatear right above my car. It was quiet so I pushed on to the village where I found Woodchat Shrike, Nightingale, Spotted Flycatcher and Mistle Thrush of interest.

Returning to the Trumpeter Finch area, I met a Danish couple on the same mission as me. At last a Juvenile briefly showed followed by a pair of Bonelli’s Eagles.

We had a short walk and found Crested Tits and a huge Butterfly, a Two Tailed Pasha. We then headed to the top where we had a pair of Peregrines, 4 Griffon Vultures, 2 Chough and a Raven. Then 2 Dartford warblers darted around.

We went back down again and waited a while before another Trumpeter Finch and a Rock Bunting turned up.
