Sacred Ibis in Pego rice fields – Don Grant

posted in: Sightings | 0

9th July – The bird is still here, in the same field. Nine days now.

29th June – For the past hour (it is 7.30pm Thursday as I write) there has been one single Sacred Ibis on the southernmost field on the Pego rice fields. It is among a few Glossy Ibis and close to a lot of other waterfowl. There are four fields at this point where the rice planting has not yet grown sufficiently to obscure the waterline. I have seen Sacred Ibises many times in Africa but never before on the rice fields.
