Santa Pola, Vistabella areas – Greta Owen

Great White Egret still resident opposite the Salinas. Nice at Vistabella hide although not many birds there. Lots of people about and a hot air balloon. As we pulled in at Lo Chicharra there was a Buzzard sitting on one of the towers but it didn’t stay around long enough for me to get my camera ready. Nice to see it flooded there. First time water has been there for some time, saw several Booted Eagles, and Marsh Harriers. Many flooded fields too but only White Wagtails on them. Saw a flock between 40 – 50 Lapwings fly over heading in the direction of El Hondo. The ringed bird is a Great Spotted Eagle that was ringed in Estonia.
