Vistabella Road – Darren Wilson

posted in: Birders Reports | 0

Today at El Hondo, I concentrated my efforts along the Vistabella Road calling in at all four hides. Big numbers were present with Shoveler, Pochard and Greater Flamingo being particularly numerous all reaching three figures. Black-necked Grebes and White-headed Duck all coming into breeding plumage and I heard my first Reed Warbler of the year so Spring is definitely on its way. At least twelve Marsh Harrier, including this male, two Buzzards and a Booted Eagle were seen along with fleeting glimpses of Bluethroat, Reed Bunting, Blackcap and Tree Sparrow.
