We were at Vistabella today, for the Sociable Plover, or Sociable Lapwing as the bird is called in some bird books. The bird was very far away, with the sun reflecting on the water but we eventually saw a Lapwing sized bird, high on the legs, not black coloured on the back, with a striped but somewhat smaller head than a Lapwing.
We understand that the name Sociable is okay for this bird, he was chased away by the ‘not that sociable’ common Lapwings!
