Yecla – Mark Etheridge

Went to Yecla this morning with Bryan and John. A slightly frustrating day, with fewer birds about than two weeks ago, and the best ones weren’t very cooperative for the cameramen. The Rock Sparrows had abandoned their usual nest holes now their breeding season is over. We saw one on an aerial at one of the small fincas.

The list included (possible) Golden Eagle, Buzzard, Booted Eagle, Kestrel, Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Golden Oriole, Black-eared Wheatear, Calandra, Thekla and Crested Lark, Stone Curlew, Woodchat Shrike, Hoopoe, Bee-eater, Rock Sparrow, Linnet and a scruffy moggy – we couldn’t decide if it was a proper Wildcat! As always, the company was most entertaining!
