Guadalentin and Calblanque – Darren Wilson

First time I have visited the Guadalentin Valley. Like most birders I was after Little Bustard and Black-Bellied Sandgrouse for my year list. Neither made an appearance but I did clock up all the larks you would expect at this time of year. As other people have mentioned they were incredibly easy here and I got splendid views of Calandra, Thekla and Lesser Short-toed Lark. Also seen were numerous Marsh Harrier and a single female Hen Harrier, Little Owl, Hoopoe, Magpie, Jackdaw, Tree Sparrow.

On the homeward journey I dropped in at the Calblanque visitor centre and saw a Golden Eagle, a pale phase Booted Eagle, a pair of Peregrine displaying, 2 Sparrowhawk and a Blue Rock Thrush.
