San Felipe – Darren Wilson

The Visitor Centre at El Hondo never disappoints and today’s walk around this splendid reserve was no exception. Good numbers of Glossy Ibis, Red-knobbed Coot, Purple Swamphen, Greater Flamingo and Black-necked Grebe were obvious. The Swamphens even tried to mate at one point. A handful of Marsh Harrier and Booted Eagle were present most of the time. All the hirundnes were overhead including my first Sand Martins of the season. A handsome Bluethroat briefly appeared too.
