Santa Pola area – Rob and Kathy Dowsett

posted in: Birders Reports | 0

We had a really lovely day today. We avoided PFT and started out at El Clot. We also did Santa Pola where we had Collared Pratincoles and Little Terns. At El Hondo we had some good birds at each stop, Night Heron, Squacco Heron, Little Bittern as well as a Great White Egret. A Roller flew down onto the road and picked up something just in front of us. Also at El Hondo we had lots of Glossy Ibis, and Avocet, Black-necked Grebe, Marbled Duck and Red Knobbed Coot. Lots of Common Terns everywhere. Our friend Sue, who is new to birding really enjoyed herself and we put a few new birds on our list too. It was nice to be in a different location.
